Teaching Teachers: facilitation matters

This two day programme is for staff who regularly lead the professional development of others. Does the quality of staff learning match learning in the classroom? Are you interested in energising and engaging staff in their own learning to raise the quality of teaching and learning?

Do you want to be improved through high quality collaborative working or just moved from one teacher to another?

Do you want to make a small investment in the adults who facilitate staff learning opportunities to have a high impact on all learners in your organization?

The more the student becomes the teacher and the more the teacher becomes the learner, then the more successful are the outcomes. Hattie, 2009

Research shows that having highly skilled facilitation of staff learning leads to improved outcomes for children.

Participants will:

  • Practice and develop a wide repertoire of facilitation skills
  • Examine research and theory of adult learning to positively influence practice
  • Develop a personalized toolkit for high quality facilitation
  • Devise materials to improve pupil learning through staff learning

Facilitator: Carolyn Hughan, Director, ETC Teaching School Alliance
